Paints, by themselves, do not establish a moisture or vapor barrier between the
surface and the
environment. This leaves the roof unguarded from harsh climate conditions and water
ingress. Further,
paints are prone to cracking and fading under UV rays and water exposure.
Unlike paints, roof waterproofing systems are elastomeric and flexible, capable of
bridging hairline cracks,
and resisting standing water. High-performance roof waterproofing materials like PU
coatings, acrylic
elastomeric membranes, and cementitious systems are built to withstand weather
extremes and provide
lasting protection. Thus, relying on regular paint alone is not a viable long-term
solution for roof protection.
